Seraband is a district located in west-central Persia. Serabend rugs have geometric designs and, most importantly, a pattern that covers the entire field of the rug. The Seraband field design, known as Mir, has miniature botéh motifs repeated horizontally across the central background. Occasionally, designs with four triangles are woven into the corners of the background. The corners and edges also feature botéhs, leaves and vines woven into vertical stripes. The main edges are narrow and are accompanied by several bands that protect the inner and outer edges.

The simple design and colors employed in Seraband rugs made them attractive for use with European and American furniture.
Older Serabands usually have a red or ivory background with ivory edges. In addition to these colors, different shades of green, red, blue, gold and brown appear in the design of other elements and their contours.
