This masterful design is known as the “Eagle Kazak”, produced in Chelaberd, Karabagh. Made in a larger format than usual, this Eagle Kazak has four medallions representing the sun in its radiant power. The sun’s rays are made with high precision. They are made up of twelve feathers and produce a captivating visual effect. A set of roses appears inside the medallions, and their surroundings are rich in geometric motifs and stylized animals. This piece has a rare detail in other Eagle Kazak rugs: the medallions are separated by intervals of coloured arrows. Even rarer is to find this rug with four medallions.
