Created during the height of the Second Golden Age of Persian Weaving, this monumental rug was certainly woven in one of the finest workshops of the centuries-old city of Farahan, known for its splendid finely woven rugs. A large rug, unique in design and color. A closer look at this rug reveals an infinity of different motifs which highlights the artist’s concern to make no flower or willow equal to the other. A large amount of saffron was needed to create this rare golden hue which in the hands of a master dyer became a spectrum of subtle gradations. On its surface, lambswool pile offers a discreet sumptuous shine. In good condition considering its age, some low pile.
