Caucasian Chan-Karabagh rug from the end of the 19^th century, with a predominantly light blue colour. This rug has rows of colourful bothes in its central area suspended by a handle that changes direction between the horizontal lines. Bright diamonds embellish the centre of each boteh. The blue field around the bothes is filled with geometric figures, including stylized animals. The central ivory border is filled with a design called sainak, a motif originally found in Turkmen rugs that consists of two stylized horns facing each other. In this Karabagh, the sainak design appears in different colours on the main border, looking like a combined double T.
