Certificate of authenticity

What we guarantee

Every rug sold by Figalli comes with a certificate of authenticity. It records what the piece is: type, origin, estimated period, measurements, materials and weaving technique, together with its condition and any existing repairs on the date of sale.

That is our guarantee: the piece is what the certificate says it is. If an independent, qualified appraiser disagrees with the attribution recorded in the certificate, show us the report — we take the piece back and refund what you paid. On orders shipped outside Brazil the return freight is paid by the buyer.

What is not a defect

An antique rug has a history, and the history shows. These are not defects:

• natural fading and variation of colour across the piece, including the lighter bands that light and use produce;
• irregularities of weave, of measurement and of shape — the piece was woven by hand, almost always without a drawing to work from;
• wool worn down to the foundation along the paths people walk;
• repairs, reweaving and replaced fringes carried out over the life of the piece;
• waves and ripples that settle once the rug has been on the floor for a while.

Anything material in this respect is described in the listing and in the certificate of authenticity.

Reporting a problem

If the piece arrives at odds with its description or its certificate, tell us within 90 calendar days of receiving it. Where a fault is hidden and only becomes apparent later, the period runs from the moment it does. Nothing here removes any right you have under the consumer law of the country where you live.

Looking after the piece

Vacuum without a beater bar, turn the rug from time to time so the wear spreads, keep it out of continuous direct sun and away from damp, and have it cleaned only by a restorer who specialises in oriental rugs. Damage caused by improper cleaning, damp, accident or misuse is not covered.
