Created at the height of the Second Golden Age of Persian weaving, this monumental rug came from one of the finest workshops of Farahan, the centuries-old city celebrated for its finely woven carpets. Its rarest feature is the ground itself: a golden hue transformed by a master dyer into a spectrum of subtle gradations. Over it, flowering vines and botéhs unfold in an infinity of motifs — the artist took care that no flower or willow equals another. The teal border answers with its floral meander, and the lambswool pile lends the surface a discreet, sumptuous shine. In good condition, and in rare company.
