The best way to describe this magnificent rug is through Pablo Neruda’s verse: “You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot stop the spring.” Here, spring is permanent. Over a luminous field of ivory silk, a garden unfolds in ceaseless profusion: sinuous vines, rosettes and blossoms drawn with the precision that only silk allows, converging on a central medallion in tones of salmon and coral. The main border, in deep aubergine, answers with polychrome palmettes that anchor the airy lightness of the field. Silk lends the surface its characteristic luminosity — the colours seem to shift as the light crosses the room. A Ghom of poetic delicacy, woven for those who understand that some gardens never fade.
