Kerman – South of Persia

A rare and unique Kerman whose design speaks with an Indian accent. Six arches, in bordeaux and dark cyan, rise upon richly worked columns; within each arch, large-scale flowers bloom in a realistic style inspired by Indian art — carnations and roses rendered like botanical portraits. A border of intricate designs safeguards the whole architectural ensemble. It is a rug of gradual revelation: the harmony of colours captivates at once, but the details of arch and column disclose themselves only as the observer returns, again and again, guided by the images the rug sets flowing in the mind.
