An antique Persian Malayer of refined village weaving, its main field entirely covered by a stylized allover pattern — the classic repeat drawn in deep indigo over a ground of warm camel, so finely spaced that from a distance it reads as brocade. The camel-toned main border answers with a floral meander in the same quiet spirit. Malayer weavers were celebrated for exactly this balance: the discipline of a city carpet with the soul of the village loom. Softened by age to a gentle harmony of tan, honey and blue, it is a rug that does not raise its voice — and is therefore heard in any interior.
