A Tabriz inspired by the master Hadji Jallili, whose ateliers taught Persian weaving the power of restraint. Instead of the dominant central medallion so common in Persian rugs, this piece unfolds a concentric series of extremely subtle hexagonal medallions with gently rounded borders, perceptible almost as gradations of light. The finely woven herati pattern — diamond and curved leaf — carpets the whole in café-au-lait, champagne and sand, with whispers of blue. Everything here is nuance: hue laid against near-identical hue, precision in the place of spectacle. The connoisseur’s Tabriz, in the fullest sense.
